FAQs

Everything below is subject to the License Terms. If anything here conflicts with them, the License Terms always take priority.

the packs

Depending on the format you choose:

  • Compositions: full-length WAV files (2–4+ minutes each, 44.1 kHz, 24-bit), which work in any DAW, each labeled with its BPM and key. Your order email also includes an upgrade code, so you can add the stems later and only pay the difference.
  • Compositions + Stems: the same WAV files, plus the full stems for each composition

Both formats also include:

Compositions + Stems adds every individual track used to make each composition, so you can rebuild or strip back the arrangement. Not sure which format you want yet? Start with Compositions and upgrade anytime. You'll only pay the difference.

Yes, anytime. Your order email includes an upgrade code.

To upgrade:

  1. Go back to the pack's product page
  2. Select Compositions + Stems
  3. Enter your code at checkout

You'll only pay the difference.

It depends on what you're doing:

The License Terms always take priority.

No. Every composition is written, played and recorded by me, using real instruments.

releasing your music

Yes. Every purchase includes a non-exclusive license to release your song commercially, on streaming and through distributors like DistroKid.

A few bigger moves, like a label deal, a film or TV placement, or passing 1,000,000 streams, need a new license. Just contact me and we'll set it up.

No. There's no clearance step. Register your song with your PRO, add the credit, and release it.

Non-exclusive means other artists can buy and use the same samples too. That's what keeps each pack priced for independent releases.

No extra fee. Instead, the songwriting royalties are split between us.

You just register your song with your PRO (like ASCAP or BMI, where songwriters sign up to get paid). The Quick Guide for Releases walks you through it.

Because they're original compositions, written, played and recorded by me, not generic loops.

So the standard industry practice applies, and the songwriting royalties are split.

Yes. You can release it everywhere through distributors like DistroKid and TuneCore. But if you're releasing through any label, big or small, or a major distributor (like The Orchard, EMPIRE or AWAL), you'll need a new license first. Just contact me before you agree to anything with them, and we'll set it up.

One per composition, so a pack of 12 can become 12 songs.

Each composition and its stems count as one sample, so using any of its stems uses that sample.

Mixing stems from two compositions in one song? Both samples count as used.

Releasing more than one song? Register each one separately with your PRO, as outlined in the Quick Guide for Releases.

Want a second song from the same sample? Contact me first.

Yes, as long as you add significant new elements of your own. The sample can't be released on its own or with only small changes.

Yes, as much as you like. Post as many short clips as you want for your song, and don't worry, those views don't count toward your 1,000,000 limit (streams, sales and downloads combined). The more your song is heard, the better for both of us. Just include the credit: Produced by expireby2099.

Congrats, that's a huge milestone. Each license only covers up to 1,000,000 streams, sales and downloads combined (audio and music video together; short promo clips like TikToks and Reels don't count). So once your song passes that, email me right away. The license ends at that point, and we'll set up a new one so you can keep going.

It's standard for non-exclusive licenses. The pack price is set for independent releases, so once a song grows past 1,000,000 streams, sales and downloads, we set up a new license that fits its size.

Yes, one full-length video per song, whether it's a music video, lyric video or visualizer. Its views count toward your 1,000,000 limit (streams, sales and downloads combined). Neither the video nor the song can go on YouTube Content ID or similar systems, since that would put claims on other producers' songs using the same sample.

Film, TV, ads, and games need a separate deal, since the license that comes with each pack doesn't cover them. Just contact me before you agree to anything, and we'll set it up.

royalties & credit

Yes. Your recording is yours, apart from my original sample inside it. Only the songwriting is split, so I just receive my share of the songwriting royalties, as outlined in the Quick Guide for Releases.

A PRO (like ASCAP or BMI in the US) is where songwriters register their songs to get paid. And yes, you'll need one, both to collect your songwriting royalties and to register both our shares. The Quick Guide for Releases walks you through it.

Only your recording royalties. Your songwriting royalties are paid through your PRO, so make sure you register there too.

Yes. Physical copies count toward the same 1,000,000 limit. For physical sales, you'll also pay me my share of the mechanical royalties (the songwriting royalty on each copy sold), as set out in Section 9 of the License Terms.

Just add this to every release, video, and post that uses the sample:

Produced by expireby2099

No. Content ID, or any similar system like Meta's Rights Manager, would put claims on other producers' songs that use the same sample. Keeping it off these systems keeps things fair for everyone who uses the samples.

No. Feeding the samples into AI or machine learning systems for training or cloning isn't allowed. Like Content ID, it would affect everyone who uses the same samples.

the license

No. The samples can't be shared or resold on their own, like in another sample pack. They can only be used inside a new song or beat you've built with them.

Yes, to one artist per beat. Just follow the Instructions for Beatmakers in your download: you and the artist sign the License Transfer Agreement, and you email me a copy of the signed agreement before the song is released or performed.

Keep in mind: selling or giving the beat to an artist doesn't make them the owner of my sample inside it. I always remain the owner of my sample. They get the right to use it, as outlined in the License Terms.

Yes, once the beatmaker passes their license to you. Just ask them for the License Transfer Agreement (it comes with their pack). All you have to do is sign it together, and the beatmaker emails me a copy before the song is released or performed.

From there, it's yours, so you're responsible for following its terms. When your song is ready to be released, the Quick Guide for Releases walks you through everything you need to know.

The Quick Guide for Releases breaks down the main points in plain words. The License Terms always take priority, so if anything is still unclear, just contact me before you release.

Yes, with a parent or guardian. Since the license is a legal agreement, they'll need to review and accept the License Terms for you, and agree to make sure they're followed.

Each one has its own page, so you can read everything before you buy:

buying & downloading

Right after checkout, you'll get two emails:

  • Your order confirmation, with your receipt (and your stems upgrade code, if you chose Compositions)
  • Your download link

The download link is also on your order page, so you can start downloading straight away.

Yes, as many times as you need. Use the link in your download email, or sign in to your account with the email you bought with to see all your packs.

Check your spam or promotions folder first. You can also sign in to your account with the email you bought with, and your downloads will be there. Still can't find it? Just contact me and I'll resend it.

Due to the nature of digital products, all sales are final. Once files are delivered or downloaded, they're yours to keep.

  • Bought the same pack twice? I'll refund the duplicate.
  • Want the stems later? Upgrade anytime and pay only the difference.
  • File missing, broken or wrong format? I'll fix it or resend it.

Read the Full Refund Policy.
